Give Bowls a Try at Taunton Deane Bowling Club’s Open Day on Sunday 28 May

Taunton Deane Bowling Club is holding an Open Day on Sunday 28 May from 10.30 am until 4 pm. No need to book, just drop in and have a go at playing bowls guided by our Club Coaches on our indoor rinks and outdoor greens. Club members will be on hand to answer questions and give information about the Club and bowling, and show people around our Club’s facilities. The Club will supply all the equipment you need, you just need to arrive with flat footwear and comfortable clothing! The Club is situated on Blackbrook Way, Taunton TA1 2RW, next to the Blackbrook Leisure Centre. Refreshments will be available and there is a large free car park.

Bowls is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. It is as DOABLE a sport as you can find – physically, financially and practically. It is highly sociable providing a level playing field across ages and genders. It delivers significant mental and physical health benefits and can act as an essential social lifeline. Playing bowls is a simple skill which takes minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master.

Taunton Deane Bowling Club provides a variety of opportunities to play bowls, which range from a social rollup with friends to taking part in club leagues and competitions, both during the day and evening. There are fixtures with local clubs and touring teams and for those who enjoy a more competitive atmosphere, there are county and national competitions for both individuals and club representative teams. It has a growing junior squad, a visually impaired section and caters for those with disabilities. Prospective new members are introduced to the club and the sport, with a series of free sessions with our Club coaches.

Taunton Deane Bowling Club’s Open day is part of the Bowls Big Weekend promoted by Bowls England which gives people across the country the opportunity to play the sport for free in a relaxed, informal setting.

Bowls Big Weekend will run from Friday 26th to Monday 29th May 2023, when clubs across the country will open their doors to enable new participants to discover everything that is great about the sociable, accessible sport of bowls. Whether you have never played bowls before or you are coming back to the sport this is the perfect way to try bowls at Taunton Deane Bowling Club.
