The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across the South West from 12 noon until 10pm.
This is alongside the warning for rain today and tomorrow.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said many places will ‘miss the worst’ of the storms, but there will be ‘scattered torrential thundery downpours’ in places, which could lead to flodded roads.
“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures,” said the spokesperson.
“There is a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
“There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.”
